Monday morning we had a surprise in our room. Our "class pet", Stripes, finally completed his life cycle and turned into a butterfly. We let him go in the wild that morning.

Since last weekend was exciting for NDSU, with hosting College Game Day again, I decided we should do a Bison art project. We splatter painted the Bison logo, and put them on our classroom door. I think they turned out great, and the students enjoyed creating them as well!

Here are some pictures of these activities.

Also, we will be starting our NWEA testing next week. We will be testing each day at 1:00. Here is our testing schedule:
Monday: Reading
Tuesday: Language
Wednesday: Math
Thursday: Science

September 11th

With today being the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on United States, we spent the morning discussing what happened on that tragic day, and how it affected our Nation. As a class, we created this quilt to hang in the hallway as a reminder to never forget the events of 9/11/2001.

I have also posted the lesson plans for next week!

A Great Start to the School Year!

Even though it was a short week, we had a very busy four days! The 6th graders went on their first field trip of the year to Pipestem Dam for Eco Ed Day. It was a fun day... A little warm, but fun! The students had the chance to rotate through five stations where they learned about water sheds, woodlands, rangelands, the layers of soil, and even saw a live, adult bald eagle up close (our kids were in the first row).

It seems like both the kids, and myself, are finally getting back in the full routine of school !Both grades took their first Math test this week, and we will be taking a test in Science and in Social Studies in the following weeks. We also spent quite a bit of time working on our art projects, which I think are going to look awesome hanging in the hallway outside of our class.

I just wanted to mention our "Friday Fun" minutes. I've heard some concern from the students that the time we earn will be used when girls have basketball practice.  I just wanted to let you guys know that we will be using the minutes we earn before the girls head to practice on Fridays so they do not miss out!

Once again, if you ever have any questions or concerns feel free to email or text me! It's been a great start to the year so far!
